Safari News is the editorial platform of Africa Calling Safaris, a Kenya-based tour operator with more than two decades of experience guiding travellers through East Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Every article published here is produced or reviewed by people who have spent substantive time in the field — guides, naturalists, travellers, and health professionals — rather than generated from secondary sources alone.

Our Editorial Standards

We publish three types of content: safari travel guides, health and preparation advice for travellers, and first-person guest accounts from clients who have travelled with Africa Calling Safaris. All wildlife and destination content is reviewed by Nikos Pocock, Managing Director of Africa Calling Safaris, who has led safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda since the early 2000s. Health-related articles are reviewed by Prof. Giorgi Pkhakadze, MD MPH PhD, a public health specialist and practising physician based in Tbilisi, Georgia.

We do not accept paid placement, sponsored articles, or affiliate-linked recommendations. Our income comes entirely from the safaris we organise, which means our editorial incentive is simply to give accurate, useful information to people who are planning to travel.

Our Team

Nikos Pocock — Managing Director and Lead Safari Consultant. Nikos has guided and managed safaris across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda since the early 2000s. He holds professional guiding qualifications and is a member of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association. His on-the-ground knowledge informs all destination content on this site.

Prof. Giorgi Pkhakadze, MD MPH PhD — Medical Reviewer. Giorgi is a physician with a master’s degree in public health and a doctorate focused on health systems. He reviews all health-related articles on Safari News for clinical accuracy, including our malaria prevention guide, vaccination overview, and general health preparation content.

Guest stories are lightly edited for clarity and length but are not substantially altered; the voice and perspective of each contributor is preserved.
