Managing Director, Africa Calling Safaris · Editor, Safari News
Nikos Pocock is the Managing Director of Africa Calling Safaris and the founding editor of Safari News. Born in Nairobi and educated in Kenya and the United Kingdom, he has spent more than twenty years on the ground across East and Central Africa, building relationships with camp managers, conservation teams, and the wilderness medicine specialists who keep travellers safe in remote terrain.
As Managing Director he oversees Africa Calling’s full portfolio of private and small-group journeys, from the great wildebeest migration in the Masai Mara to gorilla trekking in Bwindi, low-impact camping in Samburu and family expeditions to Amboseli. He maintains direct partnerships with Flying Doctors East Africa (AMREF) and wilderness first-response teams to ensure emergency evacuation protocols are current and tested.
As editor of Safari News, Nikos sets the editorial direction for destination guides, health briefings, wildlife features and conservation reporting. All health content is produced in partnership with the Georgian Medical Journal (GMJ Newsroom) and medically reviewed by Prof. Giorgi Pkhakadze, MD MPH PhD.
